Into a Winter Darkness

Okay, so I know that I promised I would be posting the images from my rolls of film but due to a lost roll because of camera switch over and a lot of my earlier work not being up to par due to camera constraints I've put the kabosh to posting every image I take. So today's treat is an image taken from my latest roll of film, but with a bit of Photoshopping to give it a unique feel. I hope you enjoy!

In November of 2009 I submitted multiple entries for the Photographers Forum Fall contest sponsored by Nikon, as of January 29 I found out that the image featured at right was chosen as one of the 100 finalists for the contest. In addition to being considered for further honors by possibly making it into the top four, or receiving another award all 100 finalists will be printed in Best of College Photography 2010!

There were nearly 14,000 entries from around the world, I don't know if I will make it into the top four places, but just making it this far is an honor and extremely exciting. This contest was the first photograph competition I entered and I truly hadn't expected to make it in first go.

Color Photography Class: Roll 1

As the new year speeds forward I have begun another semester at college. One of the courses I am taking is Color Photography. I've been photographing for several years, primarily digital up until last semester when I took a black and white film photography course. I thought it would be an interesting experience for me to show my work from each roll of film I shoot.

Twelve rolls of 24 exposure film with a 400 ISO. In this class we are required to supply a print each week for an in class critique, so each week I will be posting my work. The idea behind this will hopefully be a consistent increase in quality and substance in my work. There is no planned or implied body of work behind this, so the subjects of these pictures will be whatever happens to come across my lens. With the first weeks photographs I am both surprised and extremely pleased with the outcome of this roll, I hope I can keep it up!
